Training: Sunday Long Run, a Day Off & a Surprise 5 Miles!

The problem with upping my weekly mileage is that I don’t have as much time to write about it here!

After an exciting Saturday when I managed to run Parkrun in 17:56, the tired feeling in my legs saw me thinking up all manner of excuses not to run! We spent the day out with friends so it was only as the winter sun was setting, that I had an opportunity to lace up and go.

With the rapidly declining light I was reluctant to do my usual ‘Lytchett 10′ 10 mile course, so instead opted for a series of three 5k loops with an extra bit at the end to take it to 10 miles.

Off. Went out for a delicious meal at the Green House Hotel in Bournemouth. Runners gotta eat!

Full of cold, I spent a long time deliberating over whether or not to go for a run at all. With my window of opportunity fast approaching and my head feeling worse and worse, to my surprise, my feet walked me up the stairs, into my kit and out the door before I had a chance to complain.

I set out thinking I’d do 3 miles but felt ok after these, so found myself a flat road and did 3x 300m repeats at about 800m pace, with 300 meter jogs between each. Then, by the time I’d run a slalom of roads home, I’d hit 5 miles.
