Training: Nearly Swimming today!

Today was the big one. A nice long run out for my brand spanking new Nike Lunarglides over 10 miles, with the odd flood every couple of miles…

I drove to a place called Pamphill, near Wimborne and the historic Kingston Lacey house. This is the location of the annual ‘Wimborne 10′ held each November with a route taking in the winding and undulating lanes between Pamphill and a tiny village called Shapwick ( which has an amazing pub called The Shapwick Arms!).

It was pretty cold today, around 7 degrees so I didn’t hang around with my warm up – just a quick stretch and off off and away. Took me a while to get in to my stride but at 7miles I noted I was doing 6:50 minute miles which is fine for a training run and resulted in a total training run time of 70 minutes. Back in November I did the Wimborne 10 in just over 66 minutes so not too bad. Lots of flooding and waded through water in one stretch for up to 100 metres!

Next training:
Speed session with Poole AC on the track. Tough but good fun and the part of training that I’m certain helps the most.
